It’s been very hard trying to figure out how to describe what UrbanAlex actually is and who it’s for.

So let me point out the obvious.  First part of the title is my name Alex, as in Alex Chaney.  I originally started out back in 2003 to build a site with the help of some amazing friends from Chicago, New Jersey, New York, and Philadelphia that would allow me to talk about all the amazing things that may be of interest to people my age.

Back then, there were no tools like wordpress, and or blog tools, so my childhood friend William Paris crafted the mockup of the first web portal for Never2Funky.com.

The problem was that, I spent far more time trying to build a website tool and less time on great content so as time went on, the site because stale, outdated, and totally missed its point.

At the same time I was trying to chase stats and make everyone happy.  Each person would take their stab at screwing up the meaning of Never2Funky.  Most idiots insisting it was a porn portal, it cost me jobs, and thus the name, trying to please, and the stale content did me in.

So today, after a long conversation with my father, I built UrbanAlex.  A site by me, to showcase life as I see it based on my many travels around the world.  I have no filter.  I will use no filter.  I will put up exactly what I feel is awesome on a global level, even if that means I do it in several different languages.

So sit back and relax.  Enjoy the site and come back often or stay and contribute.  Let’s have fun with this.
